This is an Authentic OEM replacement part for a DeWalt fixed base router. The purpose of the spindle lock button is to lock the spindle in place. This is made of a rubber button with a metal shaft and is an individually sold part. Never press the spindle lock button while the motor is running doing so can damage the spindle lock.

Everything works as it should now that I have installed the replacement part. I have to compliment the site designers on the easy to design and layout of the site. I removed a bit from my DW618 router and upon releasing the lock spindle lock button, it and the spring went flying across the shop. Backed off the screws on the retaining ring, inserted the new spindle lock button, replaced the screws. Lovely to have OEM parts!

removed 3 small machine screws, lifted off router motor end facing, put in new spring, spindle lock button, replaced/tightened machine screws, done!

the lock button has a raised notch which prevents it from being pushed out of the spindle lock hsg. that notch had broken off
