Easy 1-2 hours (1 rated repairs)?

Replaced burners, igniter system, and thermometer due to age-related wear and tear

Andre - April 10, 2016
Tool Type

Outdoor Grill

Difficulty

Easy

Time

1-2 hours

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Dremel Tool

Followed owners manual for burner replacement.
Used cell-phone camera to document igniter wire routing, dressing prior to disassembly.
Followed owners manual for connection of igniter wires and used cell phone pictures to dress the wires to keep them out of the way when opening/closing doors.
Changing the thermostat was the most difficult part as the wing-nut was fused on. I ended up breaking the existing thermometer and using a Dremel tool to cut through the shaft of the thermometer to remove the existing one.
The new thermometer's shaft is too large and doesn't fit nicely into the existing "ring". It works, but doesn't look as nice as the original thermometer.
Finally, I checked all gas connections with soapy water to ensure I didn't have any leaks.
