The purpose of this part is to allow the sanding belt run against it, it helps to create a smooth flat sanded surface.
It includes the metal platen cork & three mounting screws.
Over time the platen and cork will start to wear.
It should be replaced ASAP then.

Remove 3 screws holding shoe assembly and remove. Replace with new assembly and replace screws. 2 minutes total.

Simple repair, just needed to confirm the correct model of belt sander to make sure I got the right part. Once I had the new shoe assembly, just removed 3 screws on the old one and installed the new in its place. Perfect fit.
