Plate-shave 28 790-00118-0637

Removed the old shoes and shave plate with a socket and installed new parts. No issues.

Removed carriage bolts. Broke them off, because they were rusted tight. Went to hardware store to buy new ones. Removed slide shoes and shave plate. Straightened blower sheet metal and put parts back on in reverse order. Adjusted for height and all done.

I've had my Troy-Bilt Storm 2840 snow blower for ten years and haven't had to do anything to it except the annual oil change / maintenance. The shave plate and slide shoes were extensively worn down after ten years of use and were in need of replacement. I ordered new parts which arrived in a matter of a few days (quick). Replacement is basically removing the lock nuts from the carriage bolts that hold these parts to the hopper. Putting the new parts in place with the carriage bolts and retightening new lock nuts. I used a socket and a box end wrench to accomplish this. I also used a small piece of wood (2X4) to rest the hopper on during removal and installation. Note: If you keep an eye on the slide shoes and don't let them get too worn down, you could remove them, reinstall them upside down for more use as the top and the bottom are the same.

Installed new plate.
Adjusted height.

Did not have appropriate hardware
Ordered replacement nuts and bolts.
ORDER REPLACEMENT HARDWARE WHEN YOU ORDER SHAVE PLATE

Loosened nuts/bolts, replaced parts, and tightened nuts/bolts.

1. Unbolt and remove shoes
2. Unbolt and remove shave plate
3. Bolt on new shave plate and shoes
