The sander was in a fire and the foam parts degraded.
I had to disassemble the whole sander. Clean and wash soot goo off and put it back together with new springs, motor vibration pads and new sanding pad. The housing was intact and the motor worked fine. The heat was only enough to deform the molded parts like the pad and other components made from that type of material. That's why it took so long was cleaning.

The cord, sleeve and pad needed replacement.
I removed the top half of the housing, replaced the cord and sleeve. Then removed the old pad and cleaned the surface. I put a small piece of very thin metal duct tape over the bearing hole. Then I sprayed a light coat of 3M high tack adhesive on the pad and reinstalled it....Job done!!

Great service, fit and replaced original as described
I was given an older but still perfectly usable heavy duty sander from my father. It only needed to have the original foam pad replaced to begin using. I found and ordered the part here and it arrived earlier than expected. Fit perfect and sander is up and running!

Porter Cable sanding pad base
Porter Cable 505 1/2 sheet sander is a workhorse. Without this vital sanding pad the sander will not work. Great to find eReplacementParts has this item priced well and shipped it so quick. Thanks!

Poor packaging
The pad arrived severely bent and unusable. It was packed in a blister envelope. I called and requested another one be shipped in a box. My request was ignored. It arrived in another envelope. This time with no damage. I understand the meaning of trying to cut shipping costs but I would be more than willing to pay the extra cost for decent packaging.
