Replacing a worn pad on a palm sander is an easy task. First turn the sander upside down and locate the four screws that secure the pad to the plate. These may be torx bit screws so beware of that. Remove the 4 screws and remove the rubber sanding pad from the sander. Clean the plate of any residual saw dust and dirt. This can be accomplished by blowing with compressed air and/or a rag soaked in a little mineral spirits. Next, put the new pad in place aligning the holes and replace the 4 screws. Your pad sander is ready to go. I have 2 DeWalt 1/4 sheet pad sanders that I use very hard and these pads wear down over time. Suggestion, some sandpapers have an adhesive on the back that can stick to and sometimes tear the sander pad. I know this from personal experience. Spraying a little WD-40 on the pad prior to putting sandpaper on will help prevent any sticking of the sandpaper when it's time to change it out. Good luck.

Remove 4 screws that hold on the base plate... install new base plate and tighten screws using a star-bit driver. Be sure that the screws are secured tightly, as they will tend to loosen up during use of the sander.

Thanks for the parts and terrific service. I enjoy using e-replacement parts.

    1. Removed the worn down sanding pad and broken platen.
    2. I noticed that one of the brass screw holes that I screw the platen to the sander base had become loose. This was the most time consuming part of my repair to fix (and probably would never happen to anyone else).
    3. After reassembling most of the sander back together, I added the dust seal to the platen, screwed the platen and the pad back to the sander.
    4. Problem solved; it runs like a champ.
