Abused and abandoned Shimano Torium 50

    Sterling - August 8, 2018
I received a Shimano Torium 50 that was sitting in the back of a truck for who knows how long.
It looked liked a lost cause, but I decided to try to repair it anyway.
I had to completely disassemble the reel and clean every part/surface.
The bearings were totally seized and rusty, the Roller Clutch Inner Tube was cracked and it was missing the click spring.
The Schematic provided was really helpful! This reel has 100+ individual parts!
The new parts fit exactly where they needed to.
Now I have a smooth running Torium that will catch fish here in Hawaii for many years to come!

    6. Unscrew the side plate and lift off the handle shaft.
    7. Push outer handle bearing out.
    8. Support the side plate from underneath with a socket large enough to allow the anti-reverse bearing to drop into. Tap out the bearing.
    9. Press in the new bearing.
    10. Assemble in reverse order.
    11. When putting the drag star back in you need to capture the drag detent pin with the last washer in the stack to hold it down while you screw in the star. If not the star will jam up against the pin.
    12. Finish assembly.
