I disassembled the engine. made a list of parts. I looked up the torque values online and using the new parts reassembled the engine. It fired right off and ran smooth. The parts I received from Replacement parts fit perfectly and the price was right. They were delivered in a timely manner.

Briggs V-Twin running on 1 cylinder, will not turn over due to high compression.
Check rocker arm movement to determine cam condition.
Replace worn out cam (one lobe gone).
Good time to change the seal at this time too.
Carefully adjust the valves "by the book".
Check / clean carburetor very carefully. The idle jets are very small and clogs aren't easily seen.
(took 2 attempts)
Turns over freely now and runs like a top.
Thanks !

Mower deck, parts almost worn out - Engine, replaced gaskets after valve adjustments
Deck - removed old parts and installed new ones, simple repair.
Engine - Required valve adjustment due to hard starting, adjusted valves, ordered new gaskets, replaces, again a very simple repair.
No special tools or instructions necessary.
When replacing engine gaskets, ensure oil level in engine is at the proper level as

valve cover oil leak & split vacuum hose
On 2 cylinder lawn tractor. Remove hood. Remove 4 bolts on each valve cover and remove covers. Scrape old sealant from covers and engine flanges. Used brake cleaner to remove oil residue on surfaces. Applied non hardening sealant to both surfaces. Also used gaskets with the sealant. No leaks. Vacuum hose is just a remove & replace, from valve cover to fuel pump.
