26 hp B/S twin broken rod repair
I disassembled the engine. made a list of parts. I looked up the torque values online and using the new parts reassembled the engine. It fired right off and ran smooth. The parts I received from Replacement parts fit perfectly and the price was right. They were delivered in a timely manner.

Briggs V-Twin running on 1 cylinder, will not turn over due to high compression.
Check rocker arm movement to determine cam condition.
Replace worn out cam (one lobe gone).
Good time to change the seal at this time too.
Carefully adjust the valves "by the book".
Check / clean carburetor very carefully. The idle jets are very small and clogs aren't easily seen.
(took 2 attempts)
Turns over freely now and runs like a top.

Bad fuel pump with deteriorated Hose-vacuum to rocker cover
1. Disconnected old fuel pump from mounting
2. Removed old hose-vacuum from old fuel pump and rocker cover
3. Removed rocker cover
4. Installed one fitted end of vacuum-hose into rocker cover
5. Used new rocker cover gasket for rocker cover and replaced rocker
6. Removed gas lines from both sides to old fuel pump using pliers to move clamps on fuel lines
7. Connected fuel lines to new fuel pump connection and used pliers to slide clamps back to hold fuel lines in place on new fuel pump.
7. Reconnected new hose-vacuum from rocker to new fuel pump
8. Reconnected new fuel pump to mounting.
9. Removed old air filter cartridge and replaced it with new air filter cartridge
10. Cranked the engine some time to get fuel back to fuel pump and into the engine.
11. Drove away on lawn tractor with a satisfied smile on my face.
12. P.S. Lawn tractor continues to start now and continues to run!

Cranks won't start. Found there was no intake draw pressure
1. Removed the hood and the side panels around the engine.
2. Removed top cover from engine.
3. Removed intake air filter housing.
4. Removed fuel line from carburetor and plugged.
5. Removed the intake with the carburetor to clean only.
6. Removed the rocker arm cover. Found the intake push rod bent.
7. Loosen the rocker arm on both the intake and the exhaust to replace the push rods.
8. Install the new gasket on the rocker arm cover and the bolt back up.
9. Install the new gaskets on the intake and the bolt back up.
10. Unplug the fuel line and place back on the carburetor.
11. Test fired to ensure it worked.
12. Install the air filter housing.
13. Install the top engine cover.
14. Install the sides and the hood.

Leaking oil
Remove rocker arm covers, cleaned mounting surfaces on block and coveres, adjusted valves to .004, put new gaskets on and put rocker arm cover back on. Ran engine for 10 minutes and checked for any leaks on cover mounting surfaces
No leaks, job done.

bent push rods due to valve guide moved

Mower deck, parts almost worn out - Engine, replaced gaskets after valve adjustments
Deck - removed old parts and installed new ones, simple repair.
Engine - Required valve adjustment due to hard starting, adjusted valves, ordered new gaskets, replaces, again a very simple repair.
No special tools or instructions necessary.
When replacing engine gaskets, ensure oil level in engine is at the proper level as
some oil (minimal) be lost during valve cover removal and reinstallation.

valve cover oil leak & split vacuum hose
On 2 cylinder lawn tractor. Remove hood. Remove 4 bolts on each valve cover and remove covers. Scrape old sealant from covers and engine flanges. Used brake cleaner to remove oil residue on surfaces. Applied non hardening sealant to both surfaces. Also used gaskets with the sealant. No leaks. Vacuum hose is just a remove & replace, from valve cover to fuel pump.
