    Removed faucet neck.
Removed worn plastic retainer and worn O-rings.
    Snapped faucet neck in place.

Toughest part of job was identifying the 10 year-old faucet make and model. A patent number stamped on the neck revealed it was a Delta faucet. ereplacementparts.com had exploded-view schematics of various Delta faucets, and only one depicted the worn plastic retainer. The o-rings were also ordered as a precaution.

In my case the retaining clip was not broken but the o rings/seal leaked. I bought another retaining clip with the o ring set because I figured I'd break the old 20 year old clip. But to my surprise I didn't. To make a short story of it, what took the most time was cleaning everything before reassembling which I highly recommend. We have hard water and high magnesium ppm so this is what took the extra time. Be careful, make sure surfaces are clean and do not use anything sharp when trying to seat the o rings. It's very tempting to use a knife from the kitchen drawer. Use a piece of string and loop it around the o ring then pull string when trying to get them past the larger areas. Especially the bottom o ring. That's a learned trick, they don't teach u that in school.
