A Quick Fix: How to Replace the Pump on an Older Style Coleman Lantern

1. Remove the old pump

Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry to the spring clip off of the pump.  Then slide the pump out of the lantern.

2. Ready the new pump

The components from the old pump will need to be transferred to the new pump.

First, remove the clip holding the plunger and pull off the plunger and cap.

Then slide on the metal cap, spring, plunger, then secure it using the new clip.

3. Oil the plunger

Use some multipurpose oil to lubricate the plunger.

4. Install the new pump

Simply slide the new pump into the lantern base.

5. Install the new spring wire

Align the cap with the holes in the lantern body and re-install the clip that was removed in step one.
