Tools Used

Screwdriver, Torx Security/Tamper Resistant bit TR-15H Torx

1) Used Torx Tamper Resistant TR-15H bit to unscrew housing screws holding housing halves together.
2) Separated housing to access gearbox and armature assembly.
3) Unscrewed two screws holding gearbox in place
4) Removed Armature assembly (note that the upper end of this has the needle bearing/o-ring, bow washer and fiber washer. The two brushes also are on this end. Take care when re-assembling to not damage the brushes...
5) Disassemble gearbox by unscrewing the 4 screws holding it together
6) Carefully remove gearbox cover. Note that there are two spring clamps holding the
reciprocating shaft bearings in place. Remove these and don't lose them!
7) Remove damaged reciprocating shaft assembly.
8) Clean up all parts and re lubricate with heavy grease.
9) Put new reciprocating shaft in place. Note that the seal goes inside the plastic housing.
10) Put clamps back over shaft bearings and put gear box cover back on with 4 screws.
11) Re-assemble by following these instructions in reverse. Note that the two brushes need to be carefully compressed to fit back on the armature commutator contacts and the end of the armature shaft has the fiber washer, the bow washer on it and it fits in to the needle bearing with the o-ring around the outer part of the needle bearing for vibration damping.
12) Take care re-assembling trigger and safety button. Make sure it functions properly
13) carefully test without blade on low speed to insure shaft reciprocates properly
14) If you really don't feel comfortable doing this then get someone qualified to do the job correctly and safely that has the proper training and experience.
