The primer on my Echo trimmer had split and was no longer working.

The repair was simple. I removed the breather cover (two screws), then a plate that held the primer in place (4 screws). I then cleaned the exposed surfaces with a clean rag and Q-tips, put the new primer in place, re-attached the primer plate and breather cover. I primed the engine and it started on the third pull just like it always does.

Took out the four screws holding the primer. Pulled off plate and replaced the primer. Put screws back in. Worked like a charm. Spilled a little fuel but not too messy. Easy. Repair center would have probably charged at least $45 for that.

Primer bulb split after years of service. Ordered from a new one from replacementparts.com. Unscrewed two screws holding it in place and inserted new part and replaced the two screws. Part fit perfect as did all other parts from replacementparts.com. Delivery was fast and was using my blower within a few days after ordering new part. Sure beats buying a new blower!!

    Power Drill

Empty the fuel tank or tip the blower on its side so the fuel won't run into the carburetor.
    Remove the air cleaner element.
Use a #2 Phillips bit in a driver/drill and remove the screws that hold the carburetor to the blower motor. You can then easily remove the tubes to the carburetor. Make sure you remember which tube goes where! One is from the tank and goes to the primer/carb the other goes from the tank to the carb.
Use the #2 Phillips bit in the driver to remove the four screws holding the square plate with a round hole that holds the primer bulb. Be careful the entire carb assembly doesn't come apart and tear a rubber diaphragm or worse. Remove the plate and old primer bulb and replace the primer bulb with a new one and reverse the disassembly. Be careful with the driver if you use it to screw in the bolts. Start them by hand and then carefully run them in and then tighten them just enough. Use loctite blue if you wish. I didn't but then I've not had trouble with screws backing out on my echo blower.
