I unscrewed and replaced the Platen and stuck on the pad. The Platen was not broken but I got a new one anyway. The new one has so much much sticking power than the old one. Total switch out took a few minutes. Now I have essentially a brand new mouse sander.

Remove the 5 Screws on the bottom pad of my Black & Decker mouse sander
take the whole mouse pad put it in a vice then take a razor blade and cut off the pad the old melt the pad and use the alcohol to get some of the Adhesives off. Give it a light sanding scuffing up the plastic so that the new pad will stick. Put the pad back on the sanding plate on the bottom of the sander put the screws back on and voila took about a total of maybe 10 minutes
