Product Description ?

This is a genuine OEM replacement part designed for use with Ryobi Sander. This assembly consists of Plastic Platen with Metal Springs, Foam Pad with Metal Backing Plate and a Dust Shield. This is the part of the sander that holds the Sandpaper.

Please note, it does not include the bearing.

To replace this Platen Assembly you would need a Phillips Head Screwdriver.

• Remove the 4 Screws holding old Platen
• Take off the old Platen by pulling it off the Bearing
• Press new Platen on the Bearing
• Attach the new Assembly using the 4 Screws

    Simple Repair, great part, past shipping!
    Unbeknownst to me, my son used my sander to work on a rather rough piece of wood. Rather than letting the sander do the work, he used too much muscle and wore the pad on the platen completely out. The replacement part is very close to OEM (the wires that hold the sandpaper down aren't exactly the same) and fit great. My sander is back in action.

    New platen came with upgraded arms (I had been using the sander with the broken arms for years) Take off 4 screws that attach the platen. Pry it gently off the bearing (in center)
    Push the new platen onto the bearing (making sure it is in the right position) Attach with the
    original screws.

    Very simple to install, and reasonably priced. Unscrewed 4 screws and removed the old platen, then screwed in the new platen.

    Remove the 4 screws attaching the platen to the sander. Pull platen off of bearing. Press new platen on to bearing and install new platen with the screws.

    Remove the 4 screws attaching the platen assembly to the sander. Then install the new platen assembly with the 4 screws. It was very easy to change the part and the price was great. Thank you.

    1) Removed 4 screws
    2) Removed sander platen.
    3) One of the screw heads was filled with paint...burnt it off with propane torch after removal prior to reinstalling.
    4) Pushed replacement platen onto bearing.
    5) Put 4 screws back and tightened.
