Tool Type

Elliptical

Difficulty

Medium

Time

30-60 minutes

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Pliers, Hammer and C-clamp and round file

1. Removed both pedal bushing. Had to use screwdriver with hammer for this, gently tapping until it wiggled out.
2. Toughest part was inserting new pedal bushing. Need to use C-clamp for that.

$75 worth of parts for a Nordic Track that was given to us 4 years ago. Part numbers aligned to elliptical's owner's manual. Now it's brand new again!

The bushings that connect the left pedal to the flywheel had worn out

Edwin - August 6, 2018

Tool Type

Elliptical

Difficulty

Hard

Time

More than 2 hours

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Power Drill, Wrench Set, Bolt extractor kit

1. The left pedal was flopping around and the front wheel was abrading against the side of the upper body leg.
2. Found the manual on line (I bought the trainer used.)
2. I disassembled the housing surrounding the flywheel and discovered that the hole in the bushings on the left side had worn into an elliptical shape.
3. The M8 bolt would not turn and I had to drill it out... by far the hardest part of the job. I then needed to retap the hole to remove the last bits of the stuck bolt.
4. Removed the failed bushing with a chisel
5. Used a rubber mallet to install the new bushings.
6. Lubricated the bushings and other parts with PTFE grease.
7. Reassembled.
8. Enjoyed better than "new" elliptical trainer.
