The pawl would slip in the corners of the wormgear
Working on a penn 330gt I had to remove both of the covers on the spool. So first the handle then the dragstar. Remove the spool cap. Then all the flat head screws holding the cover on bothe sides. The you can see the worm gear so take off the pawl with a flat head. Use some pliers for the nut on the end of the work gear. There are 2 white bushings make sure they go back like before. Pull the old wormgear out and put the new one in.

Took less than a minute to install and fixed the problem.
The level wind guide would move all the way left and then get stuck. It now works perfectly.

Penn level wind reel
The pawl was worn out on my reel. Your reel diagrams made it easy to find the right part. The pawl is common to a number of Penn level wind reels. Reel works great now.
