My sander quit working. At first I could turn the disk by hand and it would start. When that no longer worked, I found I could make it work by banging on it HARD. I can see white sparks through the vent slots in the back of the housing when it's running. Can you please tell me what it needs to make it work properly? Thanks

Removed handle cover, Then I removed the brush holders and removed the worn brushes. Then I installed the new brushes in the holders and installed the brush holders in the housing. Makita palm sander; Took a little figuring to get it apart; had to pry the bearing out of the sanding pad. Need to be sure all the screws are taken out before pulling it apart. Brushes went in fine.

2. Remove the switch.
3. Remove the brush holders, clean and replace the brushes.

Broken feet and worn brushes

1. Removed the 4 screws that held the pad on
2. Removed the torx head screws that held the case together.
3. Pulled the case apart and replaced all the bearings and motor brushes, as well as the broken feet.
4. Assembled in reverse steps.

Remove the screws from the handle cover, remove the brush holders and brushes. Install the new brushes into the new holders and install them in the housing. Then screw the handle cover back on.

Remove the screws from the housing, separated housing. Remove the worn brushes from the brush holders and replaced them with the new brushes, installed brushes and brush holders and assembled housing. I then installed the new pad and washer.
