This is a genuine Porter Cable replacement part, it is sold individually. A Cord Strain Reliever is used on most all power tools. It purpose is to reduce the bending of the cord as it comes out of the housing, which otherwise would cause the cord to crack and wear.

Fit my Porter Cable reciprocating saw perfectly
Fit my Porter Cable reciprocating saw perfectly. Easy job. Needed a T20 Torx bit to open handle casing. Had to cut and splice the 2 wires from the cord inside the housing. Get splices for 18 ga wire.

Cord had been cut so many times, strain relief was worn out
Removed side handle half, removed old cord, crimped new connectors on new cord, threaded cord through strain relief, reattached to switch, put handle half back on, put in screws.

Many parts were damaged or missing due to over 10 years of professional use.
Replaced the power cord and the work light. Replaced the pin that holds the saw in the closed position. Also replaced a few other misc parts. The light, power cord and pin were the biggest reasons I needed to repair just due to safety and ease of use. The pin was the hardest part to replace because I had to remove the large pivot pin
... Read morethat the entire saw hinges on by tapping it out with a mallet and a 1/2\" socket extension. The spring that holds the saw in the up position comes out when the hinge pin is removed making it extremely difficult to put everything back together. I realized after the fact that there are holes just below the spring that you can insert a screw driver or Allen wrench or similar object which holds the spring in the closed position. I still haven\'t figured out if there is an easier way to replace the spring itself since you obviously can\'t hold it in the closed position if you are trying to replace it, but my spring is fine and I don\'t have to worry about that now. There were no websites or videos that I could find to show how this is done, but I figured it out. Would have been easier if there was something that explained the holes for holding the spring before I took it all apart and the spring ejected the saw arm.
Removed handle half from sander, then removed switch. Remove cord wires from switch. Slid the new strain reliever on the new cord, attached the wires to the switch. Attached the switch to the switch handle, Assembled the handle assembly. Done
Remove handle cover, disconnect cord from switch. Remove worn reliever from cord. Slide the new reliever on to the cord. And connect cord leads to switch, then assemble handle cover.

2. Unscrewed the power cord from the terminals.
3. Removed the old boot.
4. Installed the new boot.
5. Screwed the shell half\'s together.
