This is a Genuine Manufacturer Sourced replacement part designed for use with Makita Miter Saws. It allows for the Guard to retract. This Torsion Spring is made out of Metal and it is sold individually. Replacing this item you would need a Screwdriver and Pliers.
Watched the video and did exactly what it said. Now my compound miter saw and sliding miter saw both working as they should. Very happy with your help and will use your help in the future
Disassembled safety shield by removing screw, removed old spring and replace with new. Tiny hands are a plus with this repair when reassembling. Just make sure when reassembling that the inner coupling is in the proper position, foot should be under the extension arm not above.
