Product Description

?

This is a genuine OEM replacement part, it is sold individually. A carburetor basically consists of an open pipe through which the air passes into the inlet manifold of the engine. The pipe is in the form of a Venturi: it narrows in section and then widens again, causing the airflow to increase in speed in the narrowest part. Below the Venturi is a butterfly valve called the throttle valve ' a rotating disc that can be turned end-on to the airflow, so as to hardly restrict the flow at all, or can be rotated so that it (almost) completely blocks the flow of air. This valve controls the flow of air through the carburetor throat and thus the quantity of air/fuel mixture the system will deliver, thereby regulating engine power and speed. The throttle is connected, usually through a cable or a mechanical linkage of rods and joints. Fuel is introduced into the air stream through small holes at the narrowest part of the Venturi and at other places where pressure will be lowered when not running on full throttle.

Removed old carburetor and replaced with new one. Lawn mower runs great now and engine does not surge anymore. Took a look at a YouTube video on cleaning the carburetor for reference. Pretty easy to do even if you do not know much about small engines.

Troubleshooting the most important first step. Get your parts list together and double check you have correct part numbers for your exact piece of equipment. Follow all maintenance manuals or get online for repair videos. Take pictures before during and after of disassembly. Especially parts like the carburetor mounting. Once The gaskets and spacers only go one direction and the manuals don\'t always show which. Once And if you have had it worked on before don\'t be surprised to find things installed wrong. Once you receive parts double check that they are exactly what you need before assembly. Make sure they fit.
I ordered a new pump that fit and was correct BUT the mounting feet where the bolts go were approximately 3/8 in thicker than the original. So I had to get longer bolts. Not a big deal just a little more time spent.
I ordered wheel bushings and new wheels but the new wheels don\'t require the bushings
Keep patience and take your time.

Log Splitter Honda engine was hunting and would run only when the choke was almost fully closed.

Bill from Malvern, Ohio

Difficulty Level:

Total Repair Time:
30 - 60 mins
Tools:
Nutdriver, Socket set
After cleaning the old carburetor (hunting not corrected), installed the new carburetor. The engine continued to hunt. After checking all gaskets closely, discovered that the insulator between the carburetor and engine was installed backwards. This allowed air into the engine downstream of the carburetor, making the engine run lean and overspeed. Putting the insulator on correctly solved the hunting problem.
