Product Description

?

This Trigger switch has internal terminals and a forward/reverse lever. This authentic Milwaukee replacement part is sold individually. (Variable Speed With Reverse) Switches are commonly replaced parts in power tools. A switch handles all on/off and variable speed functions. They also have a role in electric breaking; they can momentarily reverse electrical polarity. Because switches use mechanical internals, they tend to degrade and wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement. Some common signs of a broken or failing switch are: • The tool will not start when you use the switch, or it requires multiple tries to turn on, until eventually it refuses to start at all. • The variable speed function and electric braking aren't working properly.

Remove the handle cover, exposing the switch. Take a picture of where all the wires are located. Remove the wires from the old switch and insert them into the new switch. On the wires going into the switch you will need small to press in where the wires are to pull them out. Then it is best to put some solder on the end of the wires to ma ke them stiff enough to press into the switch

Remove handle half. Make a wiring diagram of where the wires are located. Replace one wire at a time from the old switch and place it in the new switch. Make sure you place all the wires where they were located in the housing, be careful not to pinch any when installing the handle half back on.

Remove the handle cover. Make sure you don\'t lose the small spring and the lock button. Make a wiring diagram of the switch. Disconnect the wires from the switch and remove it. As per the wiring diagram, connect the wires to the new switch. Then replace the handle cover. Now plug it in and if everything went right, it will run like a new drill.

Total Repair Time:

Tools:
Pliers, Screw drivers
Parts Used:
48-76-4008, 23-66-1666
1. Bought switch & replacement cord
2. Found online video for switch replacement for my drill
3. Removed old switch & installed new switch with video assist for switch wiring.
4. Installed new cord (twist-lock cord)

The switch wiring was the only part of the repair which required research. Even the video was not 100% accurate for my drill, but I was able to figure it out. Some switches come with installation diagrams, I recommend acquiring a diagram with the switch.

Make sure the drill goes back together properly, or the switch trigger may bind.

reverse switch broke

my drill is over 30 years old, so it doesn\'t have the module. They don\'t make the switch for this drill any longer.

I had to use the variable controller from old switch & the reverse switch from the new switch since the resistance of the new variable controller was too high. Took me a while to realize this discrepancy. Had to literally cut the old reverse switch from the old switch & file old variable controller to proper size. The new reverse switch popped off relatively easy. Then had to glue the two together (old variable with new reverse). It\'s still better than spending $190.
