Bearing 144125-02

My B&D 12in. 18volt Grasshog has been working fine but decided to rebuild the internal parts before it broke since the part\'s prices were reasonable through eReplacement. Read more ested in buying a replacement trimmer and reinvest in new batteries, therefore it was cheaper to rebuild the trimmer. I did save the old parts, since they still function.

I was able to use the exploded diagram from eReplacement\'s web site to guide me through the process with ease. The only hidden thing I encountered was the spring popped out that makes the trimmer function as an edger and trimmer. This spring controls the rotation/position of the base. I was able to figure out how the spring positions itself. In order to avoid this problem in the future, I will duct tape the spring into place on the shaft so it does not pop off and keep the alignment pins in place. Then I would proceed to remove the motor and spindle. Once all the parts are in place, then I would remove the tape and place the clam shell style cover back together and screw it together. Be sure not to over tighten the screws so not to crack the clam shell covers or strip the threads. The screws that held all the components together were all the same size, therefore there is no worry about trying to remember where which screw goes where.

Hope this helps anyone who attempts it. Still beats buying a gas trimmer and fighting with start up and dirty carbs. for the home user. New electric trimmer batteries are crazy expensive today.
