It is an authentic Makita air filter assembly that is sourced from original equipment manufacturer for use with air compressors. The purpose of the filter is to ensure the air that goes in the unit is free of dust and other contaminants. This is a complete assembly which includes the metal housing, cover, pleated paper filter element and the thumb screw that is used to secure the cover.
Disconnect the compressor form the power source. Remove the old air filter by unscrewing it from the cylinder head, then screwing the new one in. Disconnect and remove the parts on the pressure switch that do not come with the new one. Take the cover of and remove the wiring, remembering where the wires go. Remove the old pressure switch.
