T-Fal Airless Deep Fryer paddle would not turn

Tool Type

Deep Fryer

Difficulty

Easy

Time

30-60 minutes

Tools Used

Screwdriver, dull knife or scraper

Remove the front part of the lid by releasing the plastic tabs
Turn upside down and remove 3 screws from the bottom of the unit.
Turn right side up and pop off the 2 pieces of grey plastic trim, from around the top, carefully using a knife or scraper to expose the plastic tabs holding the lower plastic cover.
Work around releasing each tab until the lower plastic cover can be removed.
Turn upside down and remove the 2 wires from the paddle motor and the 2 screws securing it.
Remove the motor and clean up any greasy residue that has leaked past the shaft.
Re-assemble in reverse order with the new motor and transmission unit. Note it does not matter which terminals of the motor the wires go on.
Every once in a while something gets stuck and jams the paddle causing the motor to stall and subsequently burn out. Check periodically to release it,
Had the manufacturer installed a motor, that does exist, that went into reverse after stalling and a timer to restart it after a few seconds this would clear and jammed food between the paddle and body of the fryer basket.
