This part comes directly from KitchenAid. This Motor Assembly W/Transmission is used in many 7 and 8 quart KitchenAid stand mixers. This Assembly include the motor and the transmission. This part should be replaced if there is an electrical burning smell or if the gears have become striped. To replace this part, you will need to remove the Planetary first. Motor fan died
Getting the motor out was harder than getting the new one in. But I was able to access some youtube videos through the company that helped tremendously. Once I figured out how to take it apart it went smoothly and worked like a charm!

Defective motor
Remove trim
Remove housing/motor cover
Remove pin holding transmission.planetary shaft
Remove motor assembly w/transmission
Install new motor assembly w/transmission
Reverse above steps to reassemble
Test
Remove housing/motor cover
Remove pin holding transmission.planetary shaft
Remove motor assembly w/transmission
Install new motor assembly w/transmission
Reverse above steps to reassemble
