Wrong thread pattern
The item was wrong. I emailed that it was and enclosed a picture of the other one because I have 3 miter saws and one is missing the handle but I didn't get a response. I said mail me the right one then I will mail back the one that was sent.

1. Screwed the Ryobi miter lock handle in, perfect fit, wrong color, but hey not picky.
2. Throat plate is that ghastly Ryobi green but I'll paint it someday (LOL), almost fit had to trim it just a bit at the top.
3. Tested, much better cuts. And miter saw now locks at angle selected.
