To complete this repair you would only need a screwdriver to transfer the guard from the old assembly onto the new one.

Very easy remove lower shaft from upper shaft , then install the new lower shaft assembly, and you are done.

The bearing on the end or the weed eater locked up

Removed the trimmer head assembly
Removed the guard assembly by removal of the wing nut
Removed the collet nut and removed the lower shaft assembly
Installed new lower shaft assembly and installed all items in reverse order
Unit was 7 years old and ran great until the end bearing failed. Now it’s good for another 7 years!!!!!!!

Lower drive shaft broke.

Unscrewed the shaft collar, pulled the lower shaft off. Attached the new lower shaft. Hand tightened the collar and installed the guard.

Unscrewed lower shaft from upper shaft. Replaced the new lower shaft. Replaced trimmer head. Fired it up. Worked like a new one.

Lower shafts stop working and locked up

Disconnected lower shaft from upper shaft. Attached new lower shaft to upper shaft, threaded cutting head on to the new lower shaft. Installed new guard with hardware onto to the lower shaft. Easy repair.

Adjustable Wrench

Remove the broken lower shaft from upper shaft. Then remove the cutting head assembly from the old lower shaft and install it on the new lower shaft, then do the same with the guard.
