This part is an OEM from MTD for use with Trimmers. The drive shaft housing houses and protects the drive shaft. The most common reason for replacing the lower drive shaft is if it is damaged, causing the trimmer head not to spin. This part is sold individually. The tools that you will need to replace the lower drive shaft are channel locks, ratchet, and a socket.
