You state that the diameter is approximately 2 3/4 inches. Just want to verify that this is the cover diameter? What is the diameter of the section that goes into the hole on the hood? Thanks

Trip circuit breaker’s to kill power to range hood. Pop out old lights and cut old wires then pop in new lights and with wire butt connectors connect wires. Wrap connections with electrical tape. Turn circuit breaker on and test lights,
