  • Just What I Needed
Perfect fit, a little pricey, but I can understand why something that is an exact replacement part for which there is not much demand for a device that is old and discontinued is going to cost whatever a customer is willing to pay.

Replacement lens snapped into place...no tools needed.
Previously replaced the fan motor and fan blades/wheel. Used screwdriver and socket wrench to drop fan unit out of mounting box, easy 2 bolt undo and install, wires were plug and play. Saved me the trouble of replacing entire unit...would have been much more difficult because of access limitations, unique size opening in ceiling (new units are different size) and hard wired electrical junction box above unit.
Overall fix worked great and saved me much time and money.
    Relatively easy.

Unit was not heating. I bypassed the thermal cutoff switch with a jumper wire and the unit ran and produced heat, so I knew the thermal cutoff switch was bad.

    Grisham - November 16, 2023
    Tool Type

    Heater

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    30-60 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Nutdriver, Vacuum to remove old dust buildup.

Make sure the light, exhaust fan, and heater are turned off at the wall switch. I removed the cover from the unit. It is held in place by one acorn nut, 3/8” if I remember correctly. Then for easier working access, I unplugged the light assembly and laid it to one side. Unplug the heater/blower motor assembly. The heater/blower motor assembly is held in place by two screws that must be loosened with a flathead screwdriver. The holes for the screws are slotted, so the screws do not have to be removed, only loosened enough to allow the unit to be pulled down and out over the heads of the screws. Access to the thermal cutoff is gained by removing two screws (1/4” nut driver) that hold the cover on. Two nuts must be removed to take the old cutoff switch out. I don’t remember the size of the nuts but a flathead screwdriver has to be used to keep the machine screw upon which the nuts are mounted from turning when the nuts are removed. Replace the old switch with the new one, reverse the process to put everything back together, and snap in the new lens cover. If you want to check to make sure the heater/blower assembly is working after you have replaced the thermal cutoff switch but before reassembling everything, you can plug the heater/blower assembly into any wall outlet. Just be careful not to place the unit on anything that could be damaged by heat and be careful not to burn your hands while testing it.
