    Tank LED gauge wiring broke

    Time

    30-60 minutes

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, nylon pry tool

    1. Read instructions :)
    2. Remove propane tank and remove gauge part from level indicator.
    3. Remove ALL the knobs (used WD-40 to help) and the use of a nylon pry tool to get behind and persuade the knobs off.
    4. Loosen the two screws below the knob panel and pull the panel off. Be careful of the button on the left side as it's connected to the lighted knobs. You can remove the wires that connect but not necessary.
    5. Remove the two screws that attach the LED to the panel.
    6. Remove the LED, wires gauge part up through the BBQ and out through the LED gauge hole.
    7. Remove (if necessary) the small magnet attached to the mechanical gauge and replace with the new one in the kit.
    8. Before installing the new part, I put some extra sheathing around the wire assy. that goes through the sharp areas of the BBQ. This will give it more insulation from rubbing over the years. I also re-routed it to miss sharp areas.
    9. Retrace all your steps and fire that puppy up! Worked light a charm!! Pun intended. :)

Weber Summit s-470 grill was getting worn out. It is used a lot and some of the parts were getting old.

    Thomas - July 17, 2019
Also the LED sensor for the propane tank , and the control knob lights were not working. I ordered multiple Weber parts because I wasn't sure exactly what was wrong. Each part came with its own replacement instructions from Weber. Instructions were great. I had to remove the knobs and the front control panel to replace the burner tubes, wiring harness and LED sensor. It was all pretty easy with the detailed instructions with lots of pictures from Weber. I also replaced the battery pack housing. I spent about $200, but I pretty much have a brand new BBQ. I suspect it will be another 5+ years before I need to do any more work on this BBQ.
