This kerf plate also known as a keft board is an authentic Dewalt item, it is not an aftermarket imitation. It is sourced directly from original equipment manufacturer for use on miter saws. These plates are used to prevent excessive splintering of the wood which results in cleaner cuts. Using the wrong kerf plate for your tool can give a rough edge to the material you’re cutting. This part is made from hard durable plastic and it is sold individually. Please note, the hardware to secure this plate is not included, it is sold separately. You will need a screwdriver to secure this keft plate.

I have a Dewalt DW-712 Miter saw and need new kerf plates (two on the saw), Part#397046-00 which has been discontinued and no longer available. I was told it was replaced with the N714363 and this now comes as two joined plates, is this correct? Your image of the part only shows as one side.

When my saw stopped working I decided to replace the brushes, and when I did that I noticed the armature was burned out. The process for replacing the armature started when I had to take blade guard off and the blade to get to a small screw that holds the left side of the armature. Once I removed the screw the armature slid right out. Reassembling was very easy after that. I put some grease on the new gears where the armature meets the gears on the blade. Not a hard job at all. Saw runs like new again. Sure beats buying a new saw for $450.00 bucks. I also bought a dust chute, kerf plate, and deflector because they were pretty worn.
