I inherited a Makita Compound Miter Saw that had a missing switch button and chewed up kerf boards

eReplacement send me the correct parts that fit perfectly. It literally took me 10 minutes to complete the repair. The button simply pushes into the hole in the saw. Each Kerf board has two phillips head screws to be removed and reused with the new boards.

After an hour or so of truing up the saw to make sure everything was in proper alignment, I was in business. It is so great to have a dependable parts supplier.

    1. Removed the damaged kerf board with a Phillip's screwdriver.
    2. You have to position the miter saw in such a way as to get access to the screws nearest the fence.
    3. Leave the screws semi-tight, so you can position the blade close to the blade in both the retracted position and the extended position of the saw.
    4. Tighten the screws and be aware that when as you tighten the screws, it may pull the kerf board away from the blade.
    5. By keeping the blade close to the kerf board, it prevents tear out.

Stopper holder had stripped threads preventing tightening up the miter function and the other plastic parts were cracked and damaged.

    Patrick - February 18, 2018
    Tool Type

    Miter Saw

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Wrench Set, stiff bristle brush for cleaning

I Separated the upper assembly of the miter saw from the base and removed the stripped stopper. I put in the new replacement and as I was reassembling, I simply put everything back together with the new replacement plastic which was the easiest. Everything fit perfectly and with the replacement parts, the saw looks and operated like brand new. The hardest part was taking everything apart to get the upper assembly apart from the lower base. The stopper tightening handle's threaded rod also had damaged threads from being screwed into the stripped stopper holder, so I used the end of the rod that was threaded into the plastic handle and reversed it so that the new threads under the plastic handle now threaded into the stopper holder and the damaged threads now threaded into the plastic handle. Not as critical and the stopper holder threading. Works as new now. I also replaced the plastic safety cover over the blade since this also had some cracks and damage from misuse, although it still functioned fine.
