heavy duty part, looks to be OEM
replaced this part in a 17 year old Weber Genesis Silver grill. The wire leads were a bit to short. I improvised a longer lead and it works great.

    Repair would’ve been easy but…..
Parts in the kit were almost identical to factory parts…. Except that the leads from the switch to the igniter and ground wire were 3” too short !!! Luckily I was able to lengthen both to make them work.

I simply removed the old ignitor, enlarged the hole for it a little because the new one was bigger diameter, then installed the new one. I had to use the old wires because the wires on the new one were very short...probably just a model differential.

bottom tray rails rusted out, ignitor box burnt away

    Thomas - May 25, 2018
    Tool Type

    Outdoor Grill

    Difficulty

    Easy

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, Pliers, Socket set

    Bottom Tray Rails:
    1. Pull the bottom tray out and set it aside.
    2. Remove the screws holding the current tray rails in. I found it important to remove the screws with a socket, not a screwdriver. They were rusty and seized very well. A Phillips screwdriver would have likely stripped the screw heads without removing them.
    3. Pull the old rails off and clean up the bottom of the grill is you want.
    4. Put the new rails on and tighten the holding screws. I put a dab of grease on the screws to help prevent them from rusting and seizing

    Ignitor:
Just follow the instructions that come with the ignitor. They're straightforward and easy to follow.
