This is a heating element designed for use within dryers, including the rear housing assembly. Heating elements are responsible for warming the inner drum of the dryer to gradually dry your clothes throughout the drying cycle. If you notice that your clothes are still damp or not fully dry, this heating element is likely the culprit. It is advisable to use a multimeter to test the heating element, high-limit thermostat, and operating thermostat before ordering any replacement parts, including this one, to identify which component is defective and in need of replacement. This assembly includes the 20-inch diameter heating element, an attached thermostat, felt strips, insulators, and heat pads. Replacing it requires only a screwdriver and/or wrench. To begin, disconnect your dryer from its wall outlet and remove the rear, top, and front panels. Disconnect and remove any wire harnesses, and detach the belt from the pulleys and the motor. Next, lift the inner drum with the belt and remove it to access the heating element. Disconnect the wires from the thermostat and terminals, and remove the old heating element. Then, install the new heating element with its heat pad at the top, followed by its wires and thermostats. Finally, you can reassemble the remaining parts of the dryer.
