Questions & Answers for Handle-slider, Lh

How do you hook up the cables??
Dewey for model number Toro 38459 asked on 2023-03-28
Hi Dewey, Glad to hear from you. Here is some information that a customer posted that may help you with your repair. First remove the 3 large screws securing the snow chute. Then remove the screw securing the chute ring. Then remove the 4 bolts that secure the red shroud. Remove the gas cap and then remove the shroud. Replace the gas cap. Remove the 2 screws and the mounting clips holding the bottom black shroud to the blower handles. Remove the bolt from the front lower right side of black shroud. Loosen the shroud, but it is probably not necessary to remove it. Remove the bolts securing the belt and pulley cover. Then remove the cover, lifting off the tabs at the bottom. Take a photo showing how the belt is routed and how the pulleys, tensioning spring and brackets are arranged. Remove the belt. Then unscrew and replace the broken clutch cable guide. Lubricate cable channel with silicon grease. Feed the replacement cable from lower back of the blower into the cavity, up and around the cable guide and connect it to the clutch lever. Route the cable above the blower handle and connect the upper end of the cable to the clutch handle actuator spring. Refer to the photo you took and replace and install the belt. Then replace the pulley cover and remount the lower black shroud, 2 clips and screws and 1 bolt. Feed the clutch cable through the left clip, and do not pinch it. Feed the 2 chute control cables through the right clip and do not pinch them. Do not forget the bolt at the lower right front of the black shroud. Reverse the rest of the steps. We hope this helps with the repair.
