Screwdriver, bent tipped awl, and light hammer
My group head and portafilter weren't sealing to prevent a leak.
1. Removed the old gasket (it was dried and brittle). I used a light hammer to tap into the gasket to get it out. I also used a bent tipped awl to slide under and pry out the gasket. removing the old gasket was the hard part (but in the future I'll change it annually and it should be much easier).
2. Gently brushed the area of the group head where the new gasket would be slipped into place.
3. Inserted the new gasket super easily.
I didn't apply a sealant or lubricant, but I think I should have, and I can tell that I should have purchased a Group Gasket #8.5. My portafilter seals at 5 o'clock instead of 6.
In any case, I'm very glad to have been able to complete the repair relatively easily.
