Stripped the gears in the housing

Was a simple repair. Removed the old housing and installed the new part. Way too simple. Was a lot cheaper than buying a new trimmer. My unit is an older Echo STX210 and always starts up and performs excellent. I got tangled up in some Yucca and instead of going to idle, letting the head go to neutral and pulling it off the bush, I cranked that puppy up full bore and jerked it out, stripping the gears in the housing. I got on ereplacmentparts.com, found my part, ordered it and believe it came after one day. It took maybe 5 minutes to swap the parts and I was back in business. Lesson learned. I won't do that again!

Gear was stripped

Take head off by loosening 2 bolts and remove 1 phillips screw holding gear housing to shaft. Pull off gearbox. Reverse to install.

Ggreat Replacement Part

This was exactly what I was looking for. It is well constructed and the rotation is very smooth. Time in use will really be the answer. The negative of this was the method and time of shipping. It took at 8 days to receive this part through the USPS. I believe another shipping method would have been much faster and almost the same price.
