Gasket-float Bowl 693981

1) Pinch the fuel line closed using the vice-grips. There is a special tool for this also.
2) Unscrew the jet/bolt at the bottom of the bowl using a 1/2" socket.
3) Pull the bowl straight down being careful not to disturb the floats.
4) Dump the fuel in the bowl and clean it.
5) Also a good time to clean the jet. Compressed air will usually do.
6) Replace the gasket, making sure its not twisted
7) Carefully lift it back up to mate with the carb, making sure the gasket does not get pinched or stretched and that the floats are not disturbed.
8) Screw the jet/bolt back in. Remember that it has a gasket too, and that you should replace it at this time as well.
9) Remove the vice grips and check for leaks.
10) Done

Fuel leaks on the carb will be caused by 1) Supply line clamp or line needs to be replaced, 2) Bowl gasket 3) Jet/bolt gasket as just described, or if all those are OK, its most likely the floats not closing the needle valve. Remove the bowl and see what is causing it.

Tripped head off, inspected all parts, cleaned carburetor bowl while I had it off the engine.
I checked to make sure head and cylinder surface wasn't warped, de-carboned piston top and head. Re-assembled.
This type of repair is pretty straight forward.
If your new to this, keep nuts and bolts organized, and it goes easy!!

Unscrewed bolt holding float bowl. Removed pin holding float. Float and needle valve comes apart as 1 piece. Put back in reverse order.

put new fuel bowl in and replaced missing clevis pins

shut off fuel feed
unbolt fuel bowl and drain
remove old gaskets fuel bowl
install new gaskets and fuel bowl
tighten
turn on fuel
leak check
run snowblower check

Removed Carb.
Took off bowl
Pulled Float
Took out old needle valve seat
Replaced seat
Replaced float
Replaced bowl with new gasket
Installed carb.
Mower started on first pull

Removed and cleaned carb and fuel tank. Overhauled the carb then put it all back together. All went well.

Replace cable bracket clean paint rusty parts push handle. Remove Flote bowl remove float valve clean all parts in parts cleaner mask paint bowl adjust to factory spec reassemble add fluids. Start run mow on hour make needed adjustment replace decals open vent gas cap. Run mow 30 min

Since I have done before it was an easy task. However this time to make sure float was placed correctly I decide to removed the carburetor installed the float and washer and put the carburetor back in place and the air filter and cover.

Briggs& Stratton motor 190cc on craftsman brand mower
1. Removed rope pull mechanism cover air breather. several 5/16 hex screws
2. Removed springs from carburetor choke mechanism.
3. Removed fuel line and fuel tank used 3/8 bolt to plug fuel line. Drained carb into cup.
3. Removed engine cover to have access to auto choke and carburetor.
4. Removed carburetor two bolts.
5. Removed carburetor float bowl,float and needle.
6. Removed existing rubber seat below needle. used e-part number kit 398188 (see e-part diagram).
7. Reassembled all parts. added Fresh Non-Ethanol gas. Runs as good as when it was new. No more surging. No other adjustments needed. Thanks e-replacement parts!
