Hello David, thank you for your question. Since this is a paper filter it is best to just remove as much dust as possible with your fingers and shake out the filter. We hope this helps.

It was so easy. Just take the top of the vacuum off. Then take out the filter cage, then remove the filter. Install the new one, and reverse the rest of what you did before.

Took the motor chassis off the tub, unscrewed the cage over the fan and took out old foam pad. Inserted the new and screwed the cage back on. Unscrewed the column holding the air filter column, put on the air filter and screwed back in place.
