Wow! eReplacementParts Totally Rock With Fast Shipping & Awesome Prices!! A+A+A+
My old Dremel Tool died suddenly and then I put it away for years. One day I decided to tackle the task of bringing my Dremel Tool back to life, after noticing how expensive those tools are. I watched some YouTube videos on what could possibly be wrong with my Dremel Tool and found one with somebody testing whether or not his original Part Number 2610907324 had continuity with a Multi Meter, and I tested mine and it was dead. I did a search to replace my defective part and came across eReplacementPart.com and saw tons of great reviews with guaranteed fast shipping, and an awesome price, so I bought it. They did in fact come through with Fast Shipping and I fixed my Dremel Tool for less that $15. Now it works like it was brand new again. I Very Highly Recommend eReplacementParts.com and will buy from again in the future.

Dremel 395 field coil assembly replacement
I bought this field coil assembly because I suspected the one currently in the tool might the partly shorted. The rotor seemed to be spinning excessively fast at the top speed setting. After replacement, the excessive speed and vibration seemed to be a bit better. However, my diagnosis may not have been correct. I had previously replaced the speed control switch. This newer speed control has about 7 speeds as opposed to 5 in the original, so we may not be comparing apples to apples here.

Dremel model 395 type 5 simply stopped running

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Pliers, Ohmmeter & T-15 Torx screwdriver

    1. Disassembled the housing and the internal parts. T-15 Torx is necessary.
    2. Cleaned all parts using a spray brake cleaner. Use IPA or another electronic solvent as an alternative.
    3. Suspected the field coils to be the problem. Measured the resistance with an ohmmeter, one side was 0 ohms the 3 other were completely open. The field coils were clearly identified as the failed component.
    4. Ordered and received the new field coils components.
    5. Reassembled the field coil. Note: the flat blade pins of the switch speed control must be carefully inserted into the coil, no soldering is required but the pins must be carefully centered. It is possible to misalign the brush contacts (physically part if the flat bladed pins) if this is not done carefully.
    6. Reassemble the housing and the other mechanical parts.
    7. Plug in the power cord to the outlet and perform the final test.

This was a Dremel 6000 Sander. I took the unit apart and replaced the open field and it was back in service. Note, many vintage Dremel tools indicate that the parts are not available. With careful searching you can find that other Dremel tools have the same part used in them and they are available. eReplacementParts is the site that seems to make this search possible and they are a good source of hard to locate parts!

Took apart the Dremel Moto Tool using only a Torx driver to disassemble the body and the screwdriver to remove the brushes.
The rest of the components pulled apart without the use of other tools.
    Assembled in reverse.
It is advised and probably necessary to also replace the brushes at the same time.

I had two Dremel 395 Multipro Type 5 tools that stopped working.

    Screwdriver, T10 Torx

The tools disassemble and reassemble quite easily. If needed, there are several videos available on YouTube if you’re hesitant to just start removing screws. On mine, both field coils read open on a multimeter, ie., there was no continuity through the coils on one side of each assembly. Additionally, the switch in one was faulty. Through replacement parts, I was able to obtain the necessary parts for under $30 - which is about 1/3 the cost of replacing just one of the Dremels. The only tools required are a small, flat blade screw driver to remove the brush caps, and a T10 torx driver of some kind to remove the 4 screws that hold the case halves together. The collet nut and nosepiece unscrew by hand. The power wires were push connect into the new switch, and the new field coil terminals female connections plug into male connectors on the switch and only fit one way. No soldering is required. If the spring loaded shaft lock button is pointed up when you open the case, the spring and button may fall out - but fear not! A quick look and you’ll see where it goes and just how it goes in. Each tool took less than 10 minutes to repair. Because there are so many step-by-step videos on this repair, this review is more focused on convincing anyone with similar Dremel issues to take-on this repair! Why replace an easily repairable tool when you can easily fix it yourself for pennies on the dollar, in less than the time it takes to brew a good pot of coffee?
