    Drop gear case out of machine by 4 bolts
    separate case after removing pulley
    Replaced bearings
    Replace seals and dust caps on tine shaft

    Tiller drive chain bushings, seals, and bearings worn out. Shafts are obsolete for this 1987 MTD tiller so I had to weld up the worn areas on the shafts and machine back to new size.

    Disassembled tiller to remove drive gear. Disassembled the gear drive chain, removed upper and lower drive gears and shafts, welded up and machined down bearing and seal areas. Removed old bushings, bearings, and seals. Installed all new parts and reassembled.
