The coupling is attached via reverse thread. Place screwdriver atop the coupling, against the base of one of the tips, and tap briskly with a hammer in a clockwise direction (left to right). It will spin off. Install new coupling threading left to right. The blender will snug up the coupling during use. If you are in doubt, follow the instructions of the website\'s video. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being the easiest) the repair is a 1.

Used a screwdriver to pry off the original part, which came off in pieces, and installed the new part. I have not used it yet so hope it works as before. So glad not to have to buy a new blender. I don't use it often but nice to have. I ordered two couplings, and will know just what to do next time.. It seems like the coupling is the weakest part of the blender.

I've replaced this part before so I had no problems. Unplug the blender. Stick screwdriver in bottom side of blender to stop fins on shaft from turning. That stops the shaft from turning. While holding screwdriver in place put pliers on old coupling and turn clockwise. Mine came off real easy. Remember it comes off backwards from most things that screw on.

    1. I followed someone's You Tube instructions. Not the instructions that said to pry the coupling off.
    2. With screwdriver, hit the coupling teeth making the coupling turn clockwise. I hit the coupling teeth three or four times and the coupling just screwed off.
3.. Screw the new coupling on.
    4. Using the blender will tighten it.

The "teeth" (???) that fit on top of the motor housing and fit up into the bottom of the jar when it's set on top had worn down and would no longer turn the blade inside the jar.
