Cut through the power cord and did a temp fix, but wanted the factory original cord to make the repair permanent.
Pulled out the screws from the handle and wired up the new cord to the switch and re-installed the handle.

1970's vintage Milwaukee circular saw power cord frayed and insulation jacket breaking apart from age.
1. Removed saw handle.
2. Removed old power cord. (Had to save copper bus bars which connected to trigger switch).
3. Received new cord with ground wire/plug.
4. Installed power cord strain relief with heat shrink tubing.
5. Trimmed wires for fit, soldered switch bus bars to new wires and installed heat shrink tubing.
6. Installed new ring terminal on ground wire.
7. Installed copper bus bars into switch and attached ground wire to ground screw in handle.
8. Routed wires into saw handle and re-attached.
9. Plugged saw into grounded outlet and tested.
10. Saw tested satisfactory.
11. As a side note: Sent saw model number to vendor with the hopes of getting identical cord, however some extra work was required due to the fact the cord which I ordered did not come with the copper bus bars for the switch and no ring terminal for the ground wire. An inexperienced person might find this a little more difficult.

The blade guard stuck. When I set the saw down, it backed up over the cord. The handle adjustment lever broke when re-assembling it.
Replaced the cord, spring for the blade guard and handle adjustment lever. Re-assembled after cleaning the guard and inside of the motor compartment.

Milwaukee Circular saw power cord frayed
1-Removed several screws, the tension rod handle and carefully pulled off side of handle
2-Removed 2 screws holding end of power cord to switch
3-Screwed in replacement cord black and white power cord ends.
4-NOTE it fit exactly like original
5-Reassembled just in reverse of disassembly
6-Cord was new so not squished so had to push harder where it went through the handle.
7-I was careful to tighten screws in sequence, tightening them all a little and going through it again.
8-Tested saw, works great.
Cannot believe I worked with a taped up power cord for almost 2 year.
Hey folks, order the cord and replace it for your safety.
Thanks.
