Control cable, which allows engine to run (while you grip the bar, basic safety interlock)

    Pliers

It's obvious that both ends can be fitted to the device ( to handle on top, and carburetor on bottom).

The only other things to say is that it seemed prudent to oil the inner wire before mounting it, and that a large pair of pliers was handy to snap the black plastic part into the mower frame the way the old one was.

It was a complete and trouble-free replacement.

Actually I have 2 of these mowers (one for parts), and both original cables broke from rust. So oiling is probably a god suggestion.

    , Punch and hammer

Removal of the damaged cable was a small issue. A punch and hammer were needed to removed plastic bracket from the lawn mower handle. The bracket has an integral plastic rod which secures to a hole in the lawn mower handle. The punch was needed to force rod/bracket out of the lawn mower handle/hole. After that, this repair was simple and no other tools were needed. Two plastic snap ties were used to secure the cable to the lawn mower handle and the repair was complete.
