Hayward DE filter needed a new check valve. I knew this because the running pressure would not run normal but was high and then the filter became inoperable..

Parts Used
1. Removed lower shutoff valve with pipe wrench (this will expose the check valve)
2. Remove black retainer clip by squeezing protruding tabs together with pliers (keep clip to reinstall; check valve does not come with retainer clip)
3. Check valve is easily removed by pulling straight out with your fingers
4. Insert replacement valve in housing
5. Reinstall black retainer
6. Reinstall shutoff valve (wrap teflon tape around threads for good seal)
7. Done!
