This is a genuine Weber assembly used with charcoal grills. This is one half of the two-part char basket, which sits on top of the Charcoal Grate (part # 7441) where the charcoal burns and below the Cooking Grate (part # 80629) where the food sits. The basket is used to hold charcoal, either inside or outside of it, in order to facilitate direct or indirect heating. For direct heating, place the charcoal inside of the basket halves in order to concentrate the heat. For indirect heating, place the charcoal around the outside of the baskets. This allows the heat to fill the grill while providing a gap for the food to heat on the grill indirectly.
