Product Description ?

This carbon brush set is specially designed for use with a variety of Hitachi power tools. It is an authentic replacement part that is supplied directly from original equipment manufacturer. Carbon brushes play an important role because they conduct electricity in an electric motor. When replacing carbon brushes, be sure to also inspect your armature for burns, cracks, or other damage which indicates a larger motor problem. This set includes two carbon brushes with lead wires and springs attached. Please note, the brush holders are sold separately.

When replacing this brush set you will need a screwdriver and pliers.

• Remove the housing
• Remove the old brushes

Perfect condition and, thankful that the part I ordered was what I needed to fix my Hitachi drill -- saved me the big bucks if I would have had to buy a new one. Very easy to fix, and I didn't know how to do it.

I removed the outer casing and inspected the interior, there was nothing obvious so I ordered replacement brushes and the brush holders because this is what I found to fix tools like this in the past. There were 5 screws to remove and then pried it apart. There was some debris in the cavity which I vacuumed out.
When the new parts arrived, I removed the screws again, and located the brushes and holders. Which I then removed. The brushes were worn but not completely worn down. I replaced them with the new parts and put the casing back together and screwed in the screws.
But the drill did not work. I realized that the brushes were not the problem. So I took it all apart again, loosened the 2 screws that held the electric cord in place. I cut the wire and rewired it, and sure enough, that was the solution. Over time the wires had gotten pinched by the plastic piece that holds the wire in place, it's a white plastic piece that pushes against the two wires. I guess the pressure damaged the wire and cut the flow of electricity to the motor.
All in all, it was an easy fix.
