Description:
This is a genuine Dremel replacement part. Sold as a pair. Brushes are one of the most commonly replaced power tool parts. This is because carbon brushes are wear items, meaning that through friction and use they will gradually wear away until they need replacing. Worn brushes are a common causes of intermittent motor function, reduced electric braking and reduced motor power. A worn-out brush will often be worn down near to the wire lead and can be cracked, pitted, or burned. When replacing carbon brushes, be sure to inspect your armature for burns, cracks, or other damage which can indicate larger motor problems. Used with the 4000 Variable-Speeds Rotary Tool shown below.

Worn out brushes
On my Dremel 4000, it started running sporadically even without a load; speeding up, slowing down, loss of power, etc
So, I used a screwdriver to remove the caps that cover the springs and brushes on both sides. I then removed the old springs and brushes, and used a q tip and some rubbing alcohol to clean inside the cavity. I then installed the new set of springs and brushes, paying attention to the curvature of the end of the brush so that it matched the surface that it will be in contact with. Then I replaced the caps compressing the spring as I screwed the cap down flush with the surface of the Dremel body. Then I ran the tool at top speed for 5-8 minutes without a load to allow the new brushes to properly seat themselves. Now it runs like new again. Success! For under $10, not bad

Tools Used:
Power Drill
The Dremel would not start. After watching a YouTube video which explained the guide lever wasn't pressing the power in, I checked, and it was bent, so replacing it fixed it.
I took off the Dremel outer cover. You remove the brushes, and the hanger wire, remove the screws and carefully split the Dremel in half at the division line. The blue guide lever power on off can be pulled out of where it firmly sits. You can see prior to taking it out if it rubs/ pushes the power button and listen for the click which is the telling sign. You can press it with your finger and hear how it should sound/engage click. You pull out the guide lever and slide the new one in place exactly as before, and put it back together. One of the brushes was chipped on the corner, so I replaced them to be sure that wouldn't be a secondary cause..

Worn brushes, reconnect loose wire
I popped off the brush screws, places in the new brushes. Reassembled the casing but it wouldn't work so I had to take the Dremel apart and found a disconnected wire. Reattached it an now it works like a charm.

My father crushed the copper end of the armature, breaking off a piece, and which caused the brush and springs to wear out
A simple repair. I opened the Dremel multi tool up to see what was causing the problem. The detailed pictures and parts list made ordering the correct parts easy. I was just planning to purchase the armature but after reading a few comments, I realized I would also need the brush and springs. After receiving the parts, I removed 5 screws, pulled out the old armature and slid the new one in. Reassembled the tool and slid the brush and springs in on either side. Done and fully functional!

Replaced brushes on my Dremel 4000
The repair was pretty straight forward except the spring did not fit the 4000 model as stated. The brushes were exactly the same size so I just took a chance and carefully pulled the spring off of the old brushes and pressed them on the new ones.

    Carbon Brushes for my Grinder
Parts were ok,but not pleased with the company. I was in a hurry to fix my grinder,so I paid for expedited delivery and was expecting them in a couple of days. They never informed me that they were not in stock, but still charged them to my credit the day after I ordered. Long story short I received them ( 11 ) days later. They did refund my shipping charges after I called and complained. NEVER AGAIN !!!
