Product Description ?

This is a genuine Milwaukee replacement part, it is sold individually.
The Milwaukee 14-46-2012 Brush Card Assembly uses four brushes, whereas most power tools use two brushes.
To replace this part you will need to release the spring tension on the brush then place the brush card in its proper position.

Worn brushes frequently are the cause behind a motor running poorly.
• Replacing brushes can fix a motor that’s operating intermittently.
• New brushes can restore a motor’s electric braking.

Carbon brushes are one of the most commonly replaced power tool parts. This is because carbon brushes are wear items, meaning that through friction and use they will gradually wear away until they need replacing. Worn brushes are a common causes of intermittent motor function, reduced electric braking and reduced motor power. A worn-out brush will often be worn down near to the wire lead and can be cracked, pitted, or burned. When replacing carbon brushes, be sure to inspect your armature for burns, cracks, or other damage which can indicate larger motor problems.

    Worked as expected
Worked as expected, my Impact Driver doesn't spark as much and seems to have its torque back. I recommend cleaning the rotor before installing the new brushes. Can be a little bit of a jigsaw puzzle to reassemble things.

    EASY!
This was for a reconditioned drill I got back in 2012 and it has more than paid for itself. So this brush assembly was the right thing to do. Works like it did back in 2012.

    Perfect part did it's job
Needs more bubble wrap to protect in shipping as 2 of the brush holders arrived mashed in and brush would stick wherever it was positioned. Had to pry it open just a tad for smooth movement.

    Milwaukee cordless drill parts
This is the second time I have ordered Milwaukee cordless drill parts from eReplacement Parts. I couldn't be happier. Two brush cards and one armature fit perfectly. These two drills had quite a few hours on them, but ran like new drills when I completed the repair. Don't forget the J-type grease to grease moving parts. eReplacement even shows you where to grease. The parts arrived in a very timely manner. I have found a friend with eReplacement Parts.

I had two worn cordless Milwaukee hammer drills that nobody wanted to use anymore.

I decided to take a chance on installing new brushes. The work was tricky cutting and placing the wires from the old brushes. Stay calm, photo the drill as you tear it apart, cut the wires to match what you removed, solder the wires together, and put the drill back together in the exact reverse order.

Drill stopped working. Opened rear cover discovered that one of the four brushes was not making contact.

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, soldering iron, electrical solder, star driver with hollow center, very small flat blade screwdriver to position wires

Remove rear and right side covers (you will have to remove armature remember how it was positioned ); carefully un solder brush wires from switch. I placed a cloth on the work bench to catch any dropped parts. One of the six pinion gears fell out . Without the safety cloth it could be difficult to find.
Re solder new wires from brush card. Re assemble the drill.
Drill works great. $14.00 verses a new half inch Milwaukee Drill $250.00
    Definitely worth fixing!

    Brushes worn.
Removed and replaced brush card after cleaning commutator and debris on permanent magnets, windings, etc..
Had to solder connections on trigger assembly and used emery cloth to clean commutator. Also used electrical parts cleaner on motor parts (rotor, stator, commutator after removal from housing) to remove dust/debris (plenty of metal shavings from past jobs on magnets which required rags and compressed air to remove).
Pay close attention to order and orientation of parts during disassembly. Many items are notched and require specific alignment when reassembling.

    1. Disassembled driver, side, front and back. Good videos online.
    2. Removed old brush card by releasing the 4 keeper wires that keep pressure on the brushes.
    3. Removed old soldered connections, cleaned up.
    4. Soldered new brush connections and installed brush card, released keeper wires.
    5. Re-assembled tool case, being careful to not pinch any wires. This took a couple of tries.
